Last year, HFG staffer Kirsty Donovan wrote about her challenge of completing two courses of Boot Camp.
So when the offer to trial Aqua Zumba® presented itself, it was no surprise Kirsty dived straight in — and she loved every minute of it.
“With the resistance the water gives, after 45 minutes of doing upper-body dance moves, my arms were burning,” she says. The Latin dance-inspired music kept the all-ages group engaged, and Kirsty says ‘dancing’ in water gave her greater exercise confidence: “I found those balancing exercises you usually do standing on the floor were far easier to complete with the support of the surrounding water, so I could concentrate on, say, leg lifting with a fair amount of resistance but without the fear of falling over. Even turning in the water to face different directions proved to be challenging.”
